On this website I’d like to share my passion for good food, fresh ingredients and a quick and simple approach to cooking.
Who is one fine day. My name is Sarah and I live in Wellington, New Zealand.
For 25 years I lived in Hamburg, Germany. Out of the blue, my partner and I decided that we needed a change. Everything was so perfect: beautiful home, lovely friends, great job. So we decided to go somewhere else for a while. Somewhere exciting. Why not New Zealand. Not that I’ve ever been there before, but who cares. Looking back I am sometimes wondering how that happened – doesn’t sound like me at all. However, it was one of the best decisions we have ever made.
So my fiancé (yes, yes – not partner anymore, fiancé) and I have lived in Wellington since late 2007 and are enjoying it a lot. Beautiful tiny city, lovely country, amazingly friendly people, close to the sea and an incredible nature.
Where else could I have that kind of view from my kitchen.
I’ve always liked eating and good food. But cooking was never really my thing. I am sure my mum was worrying quite a lot about me being able to find a decent husband one day with that poor knowledge of how to prepare a meal. ‘Salad a la Sarah’ was my speciality – green salad with tomatoes and chicken breast. Any questions?
Well, it suddenly changed. Being in New Zealand and away from all the good foody things Germany has to offer, I started being interested in food and cooking.
The next thing I can remember is me sitting in a bookstore in front of a pile of cookbooks, flicking through all the mouthwatering recipes, cooking every night, buying tons of fresh fruit and vegetables and getting interested in nutrition. It might sound kind of old-granny-like, but I have to say: I do care a lot about what my familiy eats. Well, my family is just me and Stefan at this stage.
