There is this lovely restaurant in Hamburg, Ottensen – the neighbourhood we used to live in. It’s called Eisenstein and has the most amazing Pizza.

I always struggled to choose between Fire & Flame, prawns, red onions, ginger and chilli and Dumb Goat, rosemary tomato base, goat cheese and crisp bacon.

When we moved to New Zealand, I missed this kind of Pizza a lot. So I tried to figure out how to make it myself and came up with this recipe for Pizza with Prawns. Have you tried it yet? If not, do so.

And then I came across Chaosqueen’s Kitchen’s recipe for the 21. Bread Baking Day: Dumb Goat a la Eisenstein. She simply made my day.

It is actually kind of tricky to find the right ingredients here in New Zealand, so I had to adjust the recipe. Even if not quite original, it was still yum… I hope you will like it.

Saturday morning. We just had breakfast but I was already thinking about dinner. As it was weekend and we had plenty of time, I wanted to make something delicious. So I looked through my ‘To cook’ list for inspriation and after a while we chose a promising looking Roti Chicken Curry.

In the afternoon we strolled through the city and ended up in a bookstore. 3 minutes later I was sitting in front of plenty of cookbooks. It’s always the same…

And suddenly I knew: I don’t want Roti Chicken Curry, I want Pizza. A moment later Stefan joined me with photography and computer books and, without me saying a single word, asked for Pizza tonight. That is my man…

So we made Pizza. Three different kinds. They were so delicious.

Source: Based on Deichrunner’s Küche

Ingredients:

300 g standard flour
180 ml water, lukewarm
1 tsp dry yeast
1 tsp salt
2 tsp olive oil

Directions:

Mix flour and salt in a large bowl.

Mix yeast and some of the water and allow to rest for 10 minutes.

Add yeast and water to flour and knead for about 8 minutes (KitchenAid, Dough hook, Level 2).

After 3 minutes add olive oil.

Take dough out of the bowl, place on floured surface and knead for 2 minutes by hand. Divide dough in two parts, cover with dry cotton cloth and let rest for about 30 minutes.

Bake at 250°C for 10 minutes.

Tomato sauce.

Serves: 2 Pizzas

Ingredients:

300 g crushed tomatoes
1 tsp ground paprika
1 tsp oregano, dried
1 tsp basil, dried
1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red chilli, dried

Directions:

Mix all ingredients and spread on pizza.

We had three different kind of Pizza: Rocket and Prosciutto, Prawn and Spinach and Feta. That’s what you will need. I won’t go in the detail of directions as I trust you guys are more than capable of topping a Pizza.
